The next step in the tutorial finally let me get to getting a file listing.

I will work on downloading them on the next post, but for now, I can get a file listing by just getting a collection and listing it.

It was very straightforward, I just changed the type into a string list.

public void givenRemoteFile_whenListingRemoteFiles_thenItIsContainedInList() throws IOException {
    Collection listFiles(String path) throws IOException {
    FTPFile[] files = ftp.listFiles(path);
    return Arrays.stream(files)
      .map(FTPFile::getName)
      .collect(Collectors.toList());
     }
}
